By the end of September 2020, we will launch two new IP Points of Presence (PoP) in Russia to deliver a large range of services: IP Transit, Ethernet (EVPL) and IPX.
• One PoP will be located in Moscow (Moscow –M9) and will be connected to St Petersburg and Warsaw.
• The other PoP, located in St Petersburg (St Petersburg - Bolshaya Morskaya), will be connected to Moscow and Frankfurt.
With this new network extension, Orange becomes one of the few Tier-1 wholesale providers to deploy PoPs in Russia thus bringing reliable connectivity closer to its ISP and Content Providers customers in the region.
In Europe, Russia is the 4th biggest market for IP transit after Germany, UK and France. The country is also a hub for the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries. Through this deployment, Orange Wholesale International reaffirms its commitment to better serve the demanding data and mobile requirements of customers in the region.
With these 2 new PoPs, our customers will benefit from a cost-effective secured access to our multi-service network and an enhanced customer experience that will profit both their own operations and their own B2B and B2C customers:
• The diversity of routes - to Frankfurt via Sweden and to Warsaw via Belarus – will deliver more resiliency and prevent single points of failure.
• Being closer to the network, end-users will enjoy a reduced latency, one of the critical foundations of a good quality of service.
• With a reduced RTD, mobile roaming users will too benefit from an improved experience.
Since 2019, we have accelerated our PoPs deployment strategy across the world with many new PoPs including Bucharest (Romania), Warsaw (Poland), Bilbao and Valencia (Spain) in Europe, Lagos (Nigeria) in Africa, and Dubai and Fujairah (UAE) in the Middle East.
Our network already counts over 300 PoPs worldwide. As a Tier-1 carrier, we are determined to keep investing to extend our coverage and provide world-class international connectivity and optimum QoS for voice and data services to all of our customers.
