After Abidjan in Ivory Coast and Lagos in Nigeria, we are continuing our expansion in West Africa with the launch of 2 new Points of Presence (PoP) in Accra (Ghana) in 2 neutral datacenters (NITA (East Ridge 233302) & RackAfrica (42 Ring Road Central 1632).
These PoPs will provide access to our IP Transit, Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL), Ethernet Now services. IPX services (Data roaming 3G/4G, SS7 & LTE signaling, Volte roaming, etc.) may also be available through remote access provided that customers subscribe IP Transit services from those IP POPs.
Ghana is one of the most dynamic markets in West Africa with a growth of 36% per year of IP Transit traffic and a 79% increase of international bandwidth usage in the last 5 years.
In addition, the strong presence of neutral data centers and submarine cable landing stations make Ghana one of the first regional hubs for telecommunications, data and digital services.
With these new PoPs, we demonstrate once again our determination to serve the growing and demanding needs of our content providers, internet services providers (ISP), and wholesale customers for effective and secure data and content distribution in West Africa.
Our IP Transit customers will be able to connect to all 5511 routes in Accra. If they are not already present in one of these 2 datacenters, we will be able to provide them with terrestrial links or submarine capacity to reach Ghana’s datacenters. These two new POPs will bring diversity to our customers’ network infrastructure and allow them to secure their Internet traffic.
As for our Ethernet EVPL and Ethernet Now services customers, they will enjoy the benefits of a redundant and reliable network with low latency and high SLAs: with these 2 new PoPs, we will be able to propose a 99.99% availability rate to Ivory Coast, Nigeria and Europe. With Ethernet Now, our customers will profit from the first on-line self-service portal providing Ethernet services in West African destinations.
