Our solution
Orange Dark fiber is a passive fiber-optic capacity that you “light up” yourself (or have a provider light up on your behalf). Instead of buying bandwidth from a service provider, you lease fiber strands and design the network with Orange for your specific needs—latency, scalability, routing, and network architecture. Dark fiber is commonly used by Customers that require high control and long-term connectivity between sites.
How it works
Simplified deployment journey
From route identification to full operational management, our collaborative five-step process ensures your dedicated fiber infrastructure is verified, leased, and activated according to your exact technical standards.
1. You identify your routes and endpoints
You define where you need fiber connectivity (e.g., HQ to data center, campus-to-campus, metro routes, cross-city links).
2. We verify availability and feasibility
We check available fiber strands (“dark fiber”) in the relevant ducts/buildings and assess build constraints, splicing points, and installation requirements (“ILA”), and Orange provides specific KMZ for these routes
3. You lease fiber strands and intermediates sites for amplification
(the “dark” capacity and “ILA hosting”) Instead of purchasing managed bandwidth, you contract for dedicated fiber strands for a defined term.
4. Fiber is activated (“lit”) as needed
You/your vendor deploy optics and transceivers (e.g., DWDM or standard optics).
Or a provider lights it up with the appropriate equipment (e.g. MOFN solution).
This is where you configure speed, wavelength, and link behavior.
5. You manage service and performance
Your team typically manages the network configuration, capacity upgrades, and monitoring approach—depending on how you structure your solution.
